Wrap-Around Family Services

The Wrap-Around Service supports youth and families with multiple needs to live together in the family home. It is intended for youth who are at risk of placement out of the home or who are currently in placement and may be able to return home earlier through this process.

Wrap-Around put families with complex needs in charge of their lives and helps them to achieve their goals. The process focuses on the strengths of the family and encourages them to make helpful, caring connections in the community.

YouthLink’s Wrap-Around facilitators help the family build a plan and bring together a support team of friends, family, members of faith community as well as service professionals. This team shares resources, problem solves, coordinates their activities and blends their perspectives of the family’s situation. Together with the family, they develop an action plan.

The Wrap-Around model has proven to bring positive results. It is unique from traditional social services in that:

  • The family directs the plan
  • The plans developed are flexible and unique to each family
  • Plans that do not meet the needs of the family are changed

The individual/family always has:

  • A choice about the services they receive
  • A voice in the manner in which they receive services
  • Ownership of decisions that affect their lives
