Counselling services are offered to young people, aged 12 to 21 years, and their families/caregivers who reside in Scarborough Toronto. We also provide counselling to the youth in our residence and in our co-ops. The counsellors all trained at a Masters Level offer assistance with a wide range of difficulties, that may be personal, family or community related. A clinical consultant supports the work of the counselors. Presenting problems commonly addressed include family conflict, emotional, physical and sexual abuse, peer relationships, school concerns, suicidal ideation, depression, anger, psychiatric difficulties, self harming behaviour, criminal behaviour, sexual orientation concerns, homelessness and racial/cultural difficulties. We have three counselling sites in Scarborough. Referrals can be made by any community resource e.g. school, doctor, agency, etc. connected to the youth. Self-referrals are also welcome.
Our program includes:
Youth are strongly encouraged to include their families in the counselling process, but will be seen on their own if they wish. There may be a wait for ongoing service and the wait period varies from time to time. We offer telephone support for those waiting for ongoing counseling service. All youth and their families, with their unique strengths, supports and needs, develop their treatment goals with their Counsellor and/or any other service providers they wish to include.
