Board Member Bio's
Paul Bliss has been a reporter and anchor for CTV since 2001. He is currently CTV’s Queen’s Park Bureau Chief and acts as back-up anchor for CTV Toronto and CTV NewsNet. Prior to his current role at CTV, Paul was Vice President of Broadcast for a major television production company. Before that, Paul worked as a reporter/anchor in radio for CBC Toronto and CKEY 590am. Paul also put in some time working at the Toronto Sun. In 1993, he helped start-up a brand new television station called CHWI in Windsor, for which he worked as anchor for the 6pm news. Paul is the winner of 14 awards for spot news and investigative and feature reporting, including the prestigious Edward R. Murrow International Award for the best news series. Paul brings to the Board a sound grasp of the policies and issues affecting Toronto residents. He has spent years covering the city he loves as a reporter and has seen first-hand the challenges faced by street youth. He also faced the devastation in New Orleans following Hurricane Katrina and sent back powerful reports about the life and death struggles in the immediate aftermath of the storm. Paul has been an active volunteer in the local community level for a number of years, having volunteered for Big Brothers, Heart and Stroke Foundation and the Canadian Cancer Society. Paul also teaches television journalism at Humber College, where he also serves on the advisory board for the program. He has volunteered with YOUTHLINK, helping prepare for YOUTHLINK’s 2009 BluesLink event and acted as emcee.
Grace Bugg is the COO of Strategic Leverage Partners. Grace spent the early part of her career developing technology based products where she acquired the ability to develop and execute operational strategies. Grace has worked in a number of industries that successfully deployed technology to create strategic advantage. Through her experience in industries that have gone through major changes, Grace has gained considerable insight into the role an organization’s strategy, culture and underlying infrastructure play in its ability to adapt rapidly to changes in the environment. Grace’s expertise and strengths are in the areas of board effectiveness, strategic planning, project management, leadership, analysis, process design and technology deployment. Grace has acted as a case writer in the area of corporate governance for the Richard Ivey School of Business, where she obtained her executive MBA. Grace has served on the Boards and Executive Committees of a number of non-profit community organizations. Grace brings with her both board governance, management and technology experience.
Rosemarie Cameron is the Regional Manager for Human Resources for the CECCAC. She holds a Bachelor of Applied Science in Nutrition, a Post Graduate Diploma in Human Resources Management, CHRP and MBA. She has worked for over fourteen years in Health Care Sector. Rosemarie is a member of the Audit and Governance Committee. Rosemarie brings her H.R. experience to the Board.
Phillip Howe is the Director of the Scarborough Branch at the Children’s Aid Society of Toronto and received his Masters of Social Work degree at the University of Toronto in 1981. His clinical background includes four years at the Aoibashi Family Clinic in Japan, during which time he provided trauma intervention to victims of the Kobe Earthquake and taught International Social Work at Doshisha University in Kyoto. Phillip was a member of a research team with the University of Toronto that studied post-traumatic stress in child welfare staff and has published or co-published numerous articles on post-traumatic stress, critical incident debriefing and staff retention. He has presented on these topics at international conferences in Canada and the United States.
Krystyna Kott is a Certified General Accountant with a BBA from Simon Fraser University. She has a business management background in a number of industries including the government sector, the airline industry, the health care field and the not-for-profit sector. Krystyna has extensive experience in controllership, internal audit and risk management.
Teri McCoppin is a graduate of McMaster University and obtained her Bachelor of Commerce degree in 1981. She completed her Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation in 1992. Teri has an extensive background in financial services, having spent 9 years working in the banking sector and for the Federal bank regulators. For the past 15 years she has been an investment professional with roles ranging from financial services analyst, to mutual funds management to partner in a pension funds management company. She is currently employed by the family office of a wealthy Canadian family to assist them in managing their investment portfolio. Teri served on the Board of Directors of the Toronto Society of Financial Analysts from 1998 to 2001. Teri brings financial, business and investment experience.
Sandy Mundy is Vice-President and Solicitor in the Legal Department of the Toronto Dominion Bank. She has worked as a lawyer at the TD Bank for over 25 years. Currently, she leads a team of lawyers who provide legal advice to TD Canada Trust, the retail arm on the TD Bank. Sandy has a BA and a law degree from the University of Western Ontario.
William Reginold is currently a fourth year student in the Neuroscience specialist program at the University of Toronto. He is doing molecular biology research on Parkinson’s disease at the Hospital for Sick Children and also is involved in clinical research into Parkinson’s disease at the Toronto Western Hospital. His earlier work at the Centre for Research in Neurodegenerative Diseases has led to a publication. As a published researcher he appreciates the importance of education and established Borrow a Book Literacy, a grassroots literacy initiative. Over the last four years he has collected over 8,000 brand new children’s books and worked with seven children’s organizations in Toronto including Big Brothers Big Sisters of Toronto, East Scarborough Boys and Girls Club and Malvern Family Resource Centre to improve and establish new literacy programs for children between the ages of 4-14 years.
Michelle Wasylyshen is a consultant at a leading public affairs firm where she specializes in Government Relations and Strategic Communications. Prior to this, she worked for a large pension fund in Ontario where she built and managed the stakeholder and government relations functions. Michelle has also served as a Senior Advisor to two Ontario Cabinet Ministers. Through her work in both the private and public sectors, Michelle offers extensive knowledge and insight into the areas of political and community advocacy, policy development, strategic communications and corporate governance.
Active in the community, Michelle leads a number of fundraising and educational events to benefit a variety of charitable organizations including leadership programs for kids and canine rescue. She has also been involved in numerous election campaigns at both federal and provincial levels.
Michelle completed her Masters of Business Administration Program (MBA) at Wilfrid Laurier University. She also holds a BA (High Honours) in Law and Criminology from Carleton University and a Graduate Certificate in Public Relations and Communications from Humber College.
Mary Anne De Monte-Whelan is a corporate finance professional. Her background includes investment banking, equity analysis and corporate banking. She currently heads a consulting firm that specializes in strategic positioning, equity and investment analysis with a focus in the communication sector. Maryanne taught Finance at the Rotman School of Business, University of Toronto, she has also developed and delivered programs in Finance to international executives with the Executive Education programs at the Schulich School of Business, York University.
